DESIGN WITHIN REACH
Design Within Reach (DWR) is a modern furniture and home accessories retailer known for making iconic, contemporary designs accessible to the public. Founded in 1998, DWR offers a curated collection of furniture, lighting, and décor from renowned designers, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal. DWR provides high-quality, timeless pieces that bring modern design into everyday living spaces.
WHO ARE THEY TARGETING?
Design Within Reach is shifting their audience towards the younger generation, with more female than male, in the furniture and gardern field.

THEIR LIVING HABITS
In 2022, 24.7% of millennials said they plan to “always rent” rather than buy a house.
Younger generation are living a new lifestyle, which brings about new user needs.
"PLANT PARENTS"
These young generations see houseplants as an easy way to bring a touch of nature inside.
Millennials and Gen Zers are busy with demanding jobs and social lives and may not spend as much time in nature as they like. Many live in urban environments where nature is hard to come by.
THE WATER ISSUE
One curcial problem balcony hanging planters haven't solved is the water they are dripping down.
Despite the various solutions online, non of them has actually solved the dripping problem.

The boards help let water drain through. The water is then collected inside the planter.
HOOKS
The hooks are exchangable for any size of railing.
PROTECTIVE PAD
The protective pads are for protecting the lower part of the planter.

I made a one to one scale mockup with corrugated board to test the scale of the product.
